Sustainability
is a complex topicthat requires full attention.
It is never black or white,
right or wrong.
Every decision brings positive and
negative impacts,
making decision-making
complicated for companies.
give us a guideline to make sure we are on the right path.
This allows us to have a holistic approach in our roadmap, making sure not to lose
sight of the bigger goal at hand.
We, therefore, created a roadmap figuring all
17 goals and came up with specific projects that
can have an impact in a given category.
Furthermore, sustainability is a topic that touches all
of us, big or small. It shouldn't exist in a vacuum; it
should instead be a big collaborative project.
"Do good in what you are good at."
This is the motto completing our sustainability roadmap.
For us, it is not enough to simply change our habits at the office and our daily work life.
Rather we believe our leverage lies within goal number 9 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
"Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure."
The question driving us is;
"How can we be of use for all of us in our core business?"
We are big believers
in Transparency,
so this is why our
roadmap is available
here.
Why is
Transparency
of such importance,
you might ask?
It gives us the
possibility to engage
with everybody.
Only by engaging
can we learn, improve
and avoid mistakes.
By being transparent,
we ensure to be
honest to everybody,
including ourselves
It forces us to stick to
our goals.
At first, we can distinguish four areas of improvement related to the use of our products:
1. Reduce carbon footprint
The enduring promise of IT is to automate manual tasks, which in many cases can also lead to a smaller carbon footprint.
2. Green IT
Green IT proposes good practices for developing and deploying software to make it run more efficiently (and dynamically).
3. Optimizing the use of software
Optimizing the use of software to achieve the same desired result. An obvious example: A customer's complex workflow.
4. Customer Relationship
Another very different approach would be for DALIM Software to prioritise clients who are also working significantly to reduce their carbon footprint!
